Painting & Remodeling in Apex, NC

Apex grew from a small railroad town into one of the fastest-growing places in the Triangle. That leaves two very different kinds of homes: older houses near the historic downtown on Salem Street, and miles of subdivisions built over the past twenty-five years. We work on both.

Around downtown Apex

The homes near downtown and the old depot date from the early 1900s on: wood siding, deep porches and trim that's been painted many times. These houses need hand scraping, careful priming of bare wood, and often some carpentry to rebuild porch rails, steps and window sills worn down by weather. We take our time on them, because a fast job on an old house usually fails fast.

Newer construction across Apex

Most of Apex is newer. Neighborhoods like Scotts Mill, Haddon Hall, Bella Casa, Sweetwater and dozens of others were built from the 2000s through today. Those homes share some common needs:

  • Builder-grade flat interior paint that scuffs easily and won't wash, ready for an upgrade through interior painting
  • Nail pops and drywall cracks as new framing dries and settles, fixed through our drywall work
  • Fiber cement siding that holds paint well, but has caulked joints that open up after several summers
  • A first full exterior repaint coming due around the ten-year mark

Most of these neighborhoods have HOAs with approved color lists. We work within those rules and give you the product and color details for approval.

Red clay and new lots

New construction means freshly graded lots, and in Apex that means red clay. Until lawns fill in, rain splashes clay onto the lower siding, foundation and front steps, and it stains. A careful power wash with the right cleaner removes most fresh staining. It's also the first step before any exterior painting, along with fresh caulk at every joint.

Updates and remodels

Apex homeowners often want to personalize a builder-grade house: new trim colors, an accent wall, a better-looking bathroom. Our remodeling work includes micro cement, a seamless modern finish for showers, floors and counters that can go right over existing tile. We know how to apply it, and we take the time to do it right.

Before you list, or right after you move in

Apex homes sell quickly, and fresh neutral paint, clean trim and repaired drywall are among the first things buyers notice. If you're selling, we can repaint the main living areas and fix scuffs and nail pops on a schedule that matches your listing date. If you just bought, the best time to paint is before the furniture arrives. An empty house goes faster, costs less to protect and can usually be finished in a few days.

Apex painting & remodeling FAQ

My new Apex home has nail pops and cracks. Is that normal?

Yes. As new framing dries during the first few years, fasteners push out and seams crack. Once the house has settled, we fix the pops, re-tape cracks and repaint so the repairs hold.

When does a newer Apex home need its first exterior repaint?

It depends on sun exposure and the original paint job, but many homes built in the 2000s and 2010s are due now. Faded south and west walls and open caulk joints are the usual signs.

Do you paint fiber cement siding?

Yes. Fiber cement takes paint very well when it's cleaned and caulked properly. We wash, re-caulk open joints and apply quality exterior paint.

Can you put micro cement in my Apex bathroom without tearing out the tile?

Often, yes, as long as the tile is solidly bonded. We check the surface at the site visit and tell you honestly whether it's a good candidate.
